Hardin County History Museum

The Hardin County History Museum has been collecting and preserving artifacts, documents, and other memorabilia that tell the story of Hardin County for many years. Through various permanent and rotating exhibits and tours, the history museum strives to promote knowledge and appreciation for area heritage. Learn about the evolution of the counties carved from the frontier of Kentucky County, Virgi, nia that became a state in its own right and settled by the influx of westward travelers after the War of Revolution. Today, more than 200 years after the first settlers made their home in the area we know as Hardin County, a sizeable premier collection of artifacts is housed at the museum.

About Tim Walker

This historic event is dedicated to one of the original Founders' Day organizers Tim C. Walker who also served as mayor from (2011-2013) before his term was cut short by his untimely death on June 14, 2013.

Tim was a lover of history and a wonderful leader here at the museum, in the local community, and in his church. As a leader, he shared his faith and his vision to improve the quality of life for all. This 5k is dedicated to his memory and was created to honor his legacy by bringing families together in downtown Elizabethtown to celebrate our city's birth.
