Welcome to the 13th Annual Alex’s 5K Run/Walk & Kids' K!
Alex’s 5K and Kids' K Run is a fun, family friendly event with a purpose. 100% of the net race profits will go to our designated autism based charities. Our race is along the flat and fast terrain of MacGregor Park and along Braes Bayou. We also offeri a virtual option for those who wish to participate with the same purpose and enthusiasm from afar. Please join us in running to raise funds for autism charities in our community!
RACE PURPOSE: Alex's 5K is a fun, family friendly event that honors the life of Alex Jamrich by promoting autism awareness and raising money for research and services. Alex was autistic and passed away in 2010 at the age of 17. Lara Allen and the Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR) started the race in 2011.
CHARITIES: 100% of the net race profits will go to autism-based charities. To date, we have donated over $206,000 over the life of the race. Our race beneficiaries are Avondale House (Alex's school), the Westview School, and Autism Speaks-Houston More information about our beneficiaries can be obtained through the race website: www.alex5k.com.
RACE DETAILS:
The IN PERSON option will be done ON race day at MacGregor Park.
The VIRTUAL option can be done any time from registration until race day on any course you choose! Virtual participants will be able to submit their race results from November 4 to November 11. Virtual runners are not eligible for age group awards.

REGISTRATION FEES:
5K:
- *Early Bird Registration: $30 through August 31, 2023
- Early Registration: $35 from September 1 through October 7, 2023.
- Regular Registration: $40 from October 8 to November 4, 2023.
- Late Registration: $45.00 for those registering race day, November 4, 2023.
Virtual 5K:
- *Early Bird Registration: $30 through August 31, 2023
- Early Registration: $35 from September 1 through October 7, 2023.
- Regular Registration: $40 from October 8 to November 3, 2023.
- Late, Race Day Registration on November 4: $45

Kids K Fees:
Standard Registration: $15 for kids registered on or before November 3, 2023.
Late Registration: $20.00 for those registering race day, November 4, 2023.RACE DAY SCHEDULE (Saturday, November 4, 2023):
- Race Day Packet Pickup - MacGregor Park: 7:00 - 8:00 AM
- Kid’s K Start: 8:00 am
- Wheelchair/Pushrim Start: 8:25 am
- 5K Start: 8:30 am
COURSE:
The construction on the Calhoun St Bridge has finished, and we will be using our previous certified PR-worthy course (TX18005JH) that starts and ends in MacGregor Park and runs along Braes Bayou. It is wheelchair-friendly.

Race day registration and packet pickup are available from 6:45-8 am at MacGregor Park.VOLUNTEERS: If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please sign up on our Volunteer page or email the volunteer coordinator at . Service hour certificates will be provided to those needing them for school credit.
DONATIONS AND FUNDRAISING: Consider contributing to our cause via our Donation link. The race is presented by the Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR), one of the largest running clubs in Houston and an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

COVID-19 POLICY
Our top priority is the well-being of our participants, volunteers, and the members of the communities we serve! We plan to hold this event in person. We are monitoring the situation with COVID-19 in our community carefully and will accommodate any modifications required to hold a safe event.
If our municipality does not allow large gatherings and this run cannot take place in person, we will switch all to a virtual run option and ensure that you receive your race items whether it be by a packet pick up option or in the mail.
