Our 10k event offers runners a unique experience, taking place on three different types of surface: pavement, scenic dirt road, and challenging woodland trail, while 5k participants will be running on two surfaces: pavement and dirt road. Our 5k race is a fast, flat course following the scenic Black River along the historic Toonerville Trail, with the midpoint at the newly incorporated Muckross State Park. From there, 10k runners will proceed through Tree Farm Campground and into Hartness Park before returning to the bike path for its final half mile. This event celebrates the 20 year anniversary of the Toonerville Trail's construction along a historic trolley path between Charlestown NH and Springfield VT, and marks the ongoing extension project that links Toonerville to Springfield's Edgar May Recreation Center and downtown Springfield.

    Event details and schedule

The event will consist of two races held on Saturday, September 19, 2020: a challenging 10km race starting at 9 A.M. followed by a 5km race starting at 9:15 A.M for all ages and abilities.

The starts for both races will be located at the Toonerville Trailhead at 289 Clinton Street, Springfield VT. The 5km race will be an out and back race on the scenic bike path/Muckross driveway (dirt road) known for its lack of change in elevation. The 10km race follows the same path and adds a challenging trail component involving a loop along the ridgeline of Hartness Park before rejoining Skitchewaug Trail and dropping back down to the bike path via Bridge Street, ending where it started.

Check in tables will be located at the trailhead. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and shoes! Water will be provided. September in Vermont is seasonally unpredictable, bring a variety of layered clothing.

Ample parking will be available at the Toonerville Trail/bike path parking lot on Clinton Street. Any overflow can be accommodated at the Edgar May Recreation Center at 140 Clinton Street.

For the love of all that is good and moisture wicking...

Though we try to be accurate and on top of things... Race details can change when we aren't lookin. And once in a while we simply make a mistake.

ALWAYS visit the race's website for the most complete and accurate race information.
