On February 19, 2019, we unexpectedly lost Calvin Scheper at the young age of 19. Calvin was our son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend. Calvin graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 2018 and was in his first year of college at the University of Cincinnati. He wanted to pursue a career that would help others and truly make an impact on their lives. Please help us to remember Calvin and to carry out his mission to help others by joining in this 5K event.

We thank you for your participation in 2020 and are asking for continued support. Donations have been made and we hope will continue to be made to the Calvin Scheper Memorial Fund. This fund has already positively impacted the lives of children both near and far. Multiple Covington Catholic students in need of financial aid were able to make the Wyoming retreat, which provided Calvin with great personal growth. In his memory, we are giving students in need the same opportunity and experience and would like to do so for years to come. Calvin was also passionate about and loved swimming. From the age of 9 until his death at 19, he swam for Northern KY Clippers and various other swim teams. The memorial fund will also be used to sponsor a swimmer in need so they too may have the opportunity to participate in a sport which provided Calvin with much joy in his life.

On a global level, the Calvin Scheper Memorial Fund has partnered with Love Africa to truly make a difference in the lives of those living in severe poverty. Calvin’s mom (and biggest supporter) embarked on a two-week mission trip to Kenya in January of 2021 where she joined missionaries to help feed, clothe, and take care of orphans while also spreading the message of hope and love to them. While there she was able to assess the needs and determine where donations would be most needed and impactful. Using the memorial fund to make a difference in our community and across the globe would make Calvin so proud and truly spread his kindness to those in desperate need.

Calvin also loved to run cross country and ran in numerous 5k benefits. Please join us in the 2022 BeCalvinKind5K run/walk to help these children and adults in need. Calvin isn’t alive to do this himself, so we are asking you to please do this in his honor and BeCalvinKind!
