    VSU XC Labor Day 5K

    Monday – September 4, 2023 – 5K starts @ 7:30AM

    Meet the VSU Cross Country Teams!  VSU XC Team benefit

    5K Course: Starts on Sustella Avenue, turn right onto Baytree Road, turn left onto North Oak Street, turn right onto Moore Street, turn right onto Williams Street, turn right onto Mary Street, turn right onto Sustella Avenue and finish in the VSU Complex parking lot on Sustella Avenue. One loop course. 

    Address: VSU Complex – 401 Baytree Road – Valdosta – 31602 – parking lot driveway is on Sustella Avenue. 

     

    Awards: Overall Female/Male, Master Female/Male – top 2 in each age group – 11 & Under, 12 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 & Over.  

    Complete, tabulated results will be posted by the 6th of September.

    Items Given Away: Each participant will receive a VSU Cross Country Bumper Sticker. There is No T-Shirt offered – this is a no frill event.

    Entry fee: $12.50 through 08/28/2023 by 11:59pm. $15 from 08/29/2023 through 09/03/2023 by 2:59pm. $20 for all entrants on Race Day – September 4th. There is a Family Discount through 08/28/2023 of $42.50 AND $51.00 if entered by September 3rd by 2:59pm – [Families of 4 with Parent(s)/Children under the age of 18] No Family Discount offered on race day – all race day $20 fee.

    Please bring exact change – no refunds, no swapping. Cash or checks made payable to Todd Smoot - A Course Line.

    Race Course closes at 8:30am - all participants are expected to be finished within 1 hour, by 8:30am.

    The 2023 Grand Prix circuit events include:
    07/04/23 - Valdosta 5K - Valdosta - 1st race of 2023 Grand Prix in Valdosta area.
    08/19/23 - Blazer XC 5K Road Race - Valdosta - USATF Certified Course
    09/04/23 - Labor Day 5K - Valdosta
    12/02/23 - Christmas Parade 5K - Valdosta
    01/01/24 - NYD 5K - Valdosta
    02/10/24 - Blaz’n Love 5K - Valdosta - USATF Certified Course
    02/17/24 - Hospice Half - Dasher - Final of GP events - USATF Certified Course
    Your standing in the circuit is automatically tracked for you and posted regularly on Todd Smoot’s FaceBook page.
    The RULES:
    Men’s and Women’s Open Division
    1] Must complete at least five (5) of the seven (7) events offered. All points earned will be your total score. You will score in every event you cross the finish line and are recorded in the official results.
    2] Points awarded as follows for overall placement in the race:
    First place - 50 points
    Second Place - 49 points
    Third Place - 48 points
    Fourth Place - 47 points

    Forty Eight Place - 2 points
    Forty Ninth Place - 1 point
    Fiftieth Place - 1 point
    Fiftieth First place plus - 1 point To the last finisher
    Male & Female Age Group Division
    1] Your age category for the 2023 series will be determined by the age you are on February 17, 2024.
    2] The age groups are as follows:
    11 & Under
    12 to 14
    15 to 19
    20 to 29
    30 to 39
    40 to 49
    50 to 59
    60 to 69
    70 to 79
    80 & Over
    In the event of a tie at the end of the series:
    In the Open category – ties will be broken by average time of events run.
    In the Age Group categories – ties will be broken by head to head competition wins, and then if necessary average time of events run.
    Grand Prix Awards
    End of the 2023 Grand Prix circuit awards will be presented to the top three male and females in the Open Division and Top Two in each age group – no double dipping in awards with Open and Age Group Awards. The awards presentation will occur in March 2024 at a location to be determined later.
