    Due to the threat of unsafe weather conditions on Saturday morning, Making Oral Cancer Walk the Plank: Oral Cancer 5K will be a virtual race. 

    Those who registered should walk or run the 5K distance at their earliest convenience and submit their times through the following Google Form by Friday, May 27: https://forms.gle/FqumGm7gPcwvfeXw7
     

    The virtual race will include the following winning categories:

    • 1st place male/female 16 and under

    • 1st place male/female 17-39

    • 1st place male/female ages 40-64

    • 1st place male/female age 65 and over

    Join East Carolina University's Student National Dental Association at its inaugural Making Oral Cancer Walk the Plank: 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 14th beginning at 9:00 AM! Our efforts in organizing this event are dedicated to raising money for Beau's Buddies Cancer Patient Care Fund.

    We are excited to establish a yearly tradition in hosting this event to support a great cause and create awareness!

     

    WHY THIS FUNDRAISER IS IMPORTANT

    Dentists play an integral role in early detection and prevention of oral cancer. As dental students, we do not take it lightly that oral cancer is an issue that our communities face. Cancer treatment is extremely costly.

    We are doing our part to raise awareness surrounding the importance early detection and diagnosis of oral cancer, and to contribute to funds available to victims of oral cancer.

     

    ABOUT BEAU'S BUDDIES CANCER PATIENT CARE FUND

    Beau’s Buddies Cancer Patient Care Fund held by the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation has a mission of offsetting the cost of treatment for patients with oral health needs. All monies raised stay local to help individuals in Greenville, NC surrounding communities.

    RACE REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    Race registration is $25 until May 13th, 2022 and includes a T-shirt (until May 1st when T-shirt orders close).

    Registration on the day of the race will be $30. T-shirts will be available at the event while supplies last.

    Be sure to register early!
