The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA is looking for participants to run as a charity partner in the 36th Annual Marine Corps Marathon to be held October 30, 2011. ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal, neuromuscular disease that kills someone every 90 minutes.
The ALS Association—DC/MD/VA Chapter is different than most of the organizations involved with the Marathon, as we do not have a required fundraising amount. We have a suggested fundraising minimum of $1,000. In order to help you reach that goal we provide you with your own webpage to tell your story, share photos, update friends and family on your progress and raise awareness. The funds you raise will directly impact persons with ALS and their families.
Additionally, we do not pay for transportation or hotel for our runners, as we prefer to use all of the monies received by the Chapter for our families and ALS specific research. Once a participants application and registration fee is received, he/she will receive a letter confirming his/her spot in the Marathon.
If you or someone you know would be interested in running in the Marathon this year please contact me at ARobinson@ALSinfo.org or 301-978-9855 ext. 207 and I will be more than happy to send you a registration form. We currently have 25 spots available so be sure and sign up before they are filled. I have attached a flyer that you can forward or print out.
