I ran the Samson Stomp this year (2009). This was my 4th Samson.
The course loops through the Milwaukee County Zoo. Its a nice course, but this year, plenty of packed slush/snow offered lousy footing. It was a bit like running on the beach for many sections. But what do you expect - its January in Wisconsin. We've been having a colder than normal winter this year, and this day was not an exception. Not as cold as 2008, but definitely brisk.
After the race, participants get a boxed snack, which included a blueberry muffin, fruit snacks, orange juice, and an orange. You had to present your snack ticket (included in your race packet) to receive your snack - ensuring that everyone gets just one set of goodies. I really like when races have a semi-controlled way of giving out post-race food. It find it quick and efficient and fair.
